Siddartha and the pond / solitude

Even though I've lived in mostly rural areas most of my life, and feel somewhat oblivious (day by day) to overpopulation(my illusion), the pond reminds me of the importance of creating a more balanced environment. Not equating human and animal suffering, it was sort of horrifying at the pond yesterday. Observed were two smaller crayfish - fighting over the carcass of a larger one. Another instance of why to continue the work. Seemingly an endless task - healing the earth, we can start with ourselves, work without attachment, enjoy and explore the things we wish, and meditate on the oneness under a tree - or by a pond...
